    Lara Kierlin, MD

     

    Dr. Lara Kierlin is a board certified psychiatrist who is also fellowship-trained in sleep medicine. She provides evaluation and treatment of psychiatric and sleep disorders, with a special focus in the behavioral treatment of insomnia.

    She received her undergraduate education at the University of Southern California, receiving special honors in writing. She completed her medical training at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, receiving her M.D. in 2006.

    During her residency in Adult Psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles Semel Institute / Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Dr. Kierlin performed rotations in sleep medicine as well as in cognitive behavioral treatment for insomnia. While in residency, she published several papers relating to sleep disorders and was the recipient of several departmental awards for her research in the field. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the Cedars Sinai / Los Angeles Veteran’s Administration program.

    Dr. Kierlin has been published in the Journal of Psychiatric Practice, the Review of Sleep Medicine, as well as the Archives of General Psychiatry. She is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Her interests include cognitive behavioral treatment of insomnia, CPAP desensitization, treatment of circadian rhythm disorders, imagery rehearsal therapy for chronic nightmares, and optimization of sleep function to improve athletic performance.

    Jennifer Kim, MD

    Dr. Jennifer Kim is board certified in Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine. She practiced as an Internist for three years before pursuing her special interest in Sleep Medicine. She completed a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she also completed her Internal Medicine Residency. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a medical degree from Wake Forest University.

    Dr. Kim enjoys taking care of all aspects of sleep and has special interests in sleep problems that affect women and children. She is also proficient in medical Spanish and conversational in Korean.

    Dan Root, MD

    Dr. Root has been practicing medicine in Oregon since 1998. He founded Oregon Sleep Associates in 2005. He is board certified in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Root received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Root completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. His Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowships were completed at Baylor College of Medicine.
